On the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the adoption of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child The European Parliament adopted a resolution which uses terms such as "gender" and "sexual identity" of the child and does not support a clear right of a child to grow up in families, although it pointed out the original Convention on the rights of the Child. In this text of the draft resolution reacted Mirijana Petri, representative of HSS in europarlamentu and association Voice for Children (CLUSTER), who sent the appeal to the Croatian MEPs to vote against this motion for a resolution. Letter Marijana Petir in its entirety.

The draft resolution on the Rights of the Child EP: gender ideology and marginalization of families

On the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the adoption of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child The European Parliament adopted a resolution on which the draft because of contentious parts, especially those who want to introduce the "fruit" of the child, Croatia MEP Mirijana Petri made a reservation, and the Association of Parents' Voice for children (CLUSTER) appealed to the Croatian MEPs to vote against this motion for a resolution.

The proponent resolution is Anna Maria Corazza Bildt, wife of Carl Bildt, who is over the military liberation operations Flash and Storm in 1995, has repeatedly asked for a military intervention of the UN and NATO against the Croatian in order to preserve the so-called. SAO Krajina.

Marijana Petir for narod.hr said that despite the fact that the resolution is non-binding instrument that represents the political will to work towards the welfare of children and provides guidance for coordination of national legislation and administrative practice, the adoption of resolutions in this present form because of arbitrary interpretations of international definition and introduction of non-scientific term raises a series of doubts.

As part of the draft resolution on the rights of the child, talk about discrimination based on sexual identity of the child, said spokeswoman Petri.

Since there is no international definition of sexual identity, ambiguity of the term could lead to misinterpretation which could lead to unnecessary court cases at the European Court of Human Rights. If it is assumed that sexual identity is something yet to learn, discover or develop a process of maturation, it is questionable how a child can be protected from discrimination on the basis of what is for him still unknown ?, asks Petri.

"It is worrying and that the draft resolution does not place sufficient emphasis on the child's right to grow up in families, although it was stressed to the original Convention on the Rights of the Child, and I believe that the child's right to family must be clearly supported this resolution," says Petri.

Association of Parents' (CLUSTER) appealed to the Croatian MEPs that says the draft resolution handled by the terms "gender" child and "gender equality", and point out that trying to pass a gender ideology that has proven unscientific and very dangerous for development children and young people.

In Croatia, the majority of parents, and we believe in other countries, does not want to impose it to their children. However, it is the role of parents in the draft resolution completely marginalized, that is, we fear, part of a deliberate tactic to better control and manipulation of children by some political and civic interest groups, warns CLUSTER.

"Please tell the discussion vote against the adoption of the terms related to the" fruit "of children (which is imposed instead of" sex ") and that it is misplaced to highlight the role of parents as the first educators and responsible of their children," says the appeal GROZD Association.

Letter Marijana Petir membership of the European People's Party (EPP), which belongs to the club representative, responding to a recent report by UNFPA (United Nations Population Fund) as well as the draft resolution to the 25th anniversary of the Convention on the Rights of the Child that promote "sexual and gender identity of the children ", fully accessible abortion and reducing parental rights in education.

Dear Mrs. Corazza Bildt, dear Mrs. Hohlemeier, dear colleagues from the European People's Party,

Let me warn you that the recent resolution on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child, which is scheduled next week in Strasbourg. Please, pay attention to section F of the proposed draft resolution, which for the first time introduces a problematic formulation and language in terms of discrimination based on gender and sexual identity - children. Please note that, contrary to the original Convention on the Rights of the Child, this time parents or guardians omitted and are included only children in relation to their sexual identity and had also mentioned the reasons for discrimination on the basis of the same as well as other factors .

Allow me to inform you that so far I could not even get a proper explanation which would be the definition of the term "gender identity" mentioned in the draft. Also, mention the term does not exist in the international legal system. Children and their parents or. guardians should by all means be protected against any kind of discrimination in relation to their gender. But the term "sexual identity", which moreover relates solely to children, the question of what is meant by "sexual identity"; I actually talk about the sexual orientation of children or how to talk about the sexualisation of children?

So I would cordially asked for urgent action as the coordinator of the EPP in the European Committee on Civil Liberties, Justice and Home Affairs (LIBE) and as the originator of this resolution to eliminate confusing and problematic definitions in Article F - word "gender, sexual identity "- and replace one word:" gender ". It is also important that children stay connected with their parents or guardians, and the text on this point could use the original formulation of the Convention, Article 2. With regard to the role of parents, please, look at the original article 5 of the Convention.

Thanks and best regards,

Marijana Petir
